ShieldX Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 1, 2025  ·  Product: ShieldX Ad Blocker  ·  Published by: Bolrio

Short version: ShieldX does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or browsing history. All filtering happens locally on your device.

1. Who we are

ShieldX is a browser extension product developed and operated by Bolrio. For legal and privacy questions, refer to Bolrio's main privacy policy and terms of service. Bolrio is the data controller where applicable under GDPR and equivalent laws.

2. What data ShieldX collects

ShieldX collects no personal data. Specifically:

3. Local storage and extension settings

ShieldX uses Chrome's chrome.storage.local API to persist your settings (enabled filters, allowlist, custom rules, and UI preferences) locally on your device. This data never leaves your machine except through Chrome's optional sync feature, which is controlled entirely by your Google account settings.

4. Filter list updates

ShieldX periodically fetches updated filter rule lists from Bolrio-operated or community-maintained sources. These requests include a version identifier and timestamp only. No personal or browsing data is included in these requests.

5. Crash and error reporting

ShieldX does not include automatic crash reporting. If you voluntarily submit a bug report via ShieldX Support, the information you provide in that report is handled according to Bolrio's Privacy Policy.

6. Children's privacy

ShieldX is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect product changes. When we do, we update the effective date above. Continued use of ShieldX after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

8. Contact

For questions about this privacy policy or ShieldX data practices, contact Bolrio via the ShieldX Support page or the Bolrio contact page.
